We got here around 5pm for dinner and just before the crowd. Upon entry it looked classic but modern Korean BBQ restaurant. Decor was mostly wood but nicely done. There were glass fridge showcasing it's prime short ribs. We were quickly seated and the waiter was quick to help with our questions. Decided on a variety of menu items instead of just bbq, we end up ordering the seafood pancake, bibimap & bbq beef plate (consist of waygu, short rib & tongue). The meat came out quickly and we began to cook and eat. We found it we would have to pay extra for lettuce, bean paste & garlic to eat complimentary with the meat (1 star off). I do say the food quality was more excellent and tasty compared to other Korean restaurants in the area. But be ready to pay. I would order so the again but I'm going to try to make it to the AYCE which ends by 4:30 PM. Overall loved the service and good. Would recommend the place and come back to try other menu items.
Just had dinner at Ganhoo in Flushing, and it was an amazing experience! They do all-you-can-eat on weekdays from 12-4:30 PM, but we came for dinner. If you post a review on Google, they give you a free plum drink -- super refreshing! We ordered the beef tongue, wagyu fried rice, and the famous 'staircase.' The beef was insanely tender, and the seasoning was spot on -- tasted like that perfect skewer flavor! Bonus: if you spend over $118, you get a free mango dessert. Oh, and they serve meat cakes for birthdays! Definitely a place to check out if you're craving something special.
Amazing experience! My wife found this place in Flushing so we had to try it! The meat quality was so good! Every bite was so worth it. The service is really good. I would recommend getting the Meat Lover stair! They have different cuts of meat you can try and taste different meats. I would go again once in I'm NYC!
The service was wonderful! I love the experience of sitting and cooking our stakes to our preferred temp and the options of sauces and seasonings we got. The server also brought out a "meat" cake for my friend since it was her birthday and we ordered fried rice which was very, very good! The place does get very busy and a little loud but we never felt like we had to shout to hear each other. I would definitely go again!
East Asian DIY BBQ. Big restaurant with spacious seating. Tables seemed to work for groups of most sizes. We noticed two other restaurants specializing in high quality meats on the same block, so it appears this part of 37th Avenue is becoming a hot spot for carnivores. We had dinner here on a Thursday night and were seated immediately. Before we ordered, the staff brought out a few small, complimentary dishes to share including marinated tofu, pickled daikon, pickled carrots & cucumbers, and peppercorn pickled cabbage. I liked the cold starters across the board. I appreciated the complimentary items at a time that nearly all restaurants have eliminated them. Seemed like the signature item was the meat lover's stair case combo though there were good options for pescatarians and vegetarians too. The combo included a variety of beef, pork, shrimp, and vegetables. The beef was the focus including some aged pieces and some nicely marbled pieces too. The presentation was pretty. My favorite item in the combo was the marinated beef. It was the most flavorful and it was one of the thicker cuts making it easier to cook for me. I had trouble cooking some of the very thin meats. I tried to apply a lot of lard to the grill before placing the meat to prevent the meat from sticking. Unfortunately, a lot of the thinner pieces were stuck when cooked to the temperature that I preferred. Most of the pieces didn't release from the grill until they were well done. I'm guessing it was likely user error. Portion size was on point. Pricing came out to roughly $60 per person with tax and tip which I think was reasonable for a meal focusing on aged and marbled beef. Service was great. Staff was attentive. They changed our grill twice to help prevent meats from sticking. They brought us a pitcher when they saw we were drinking a lot of water. Foods came out quickly and someone was always available when we needed anything. They had gendered restrooms and a stall with accessibility bars in the restroom that I used. We needed to climb stairs for the entrance we used. There was another entrance which I'm unsure if it can be accessed entirely by ramps.
New-ish BBQ addition to downtown Flushing. It is very spacious inside and very well decorated. The best thing about it is that you don't smell the smoke and your clothes are not smelly. We ordered the famous meat staircase in order to get a sense of the different varieties they offer. And then ordered our favorites thereafter, ie the brisket and wagyu. Also ordered a few different vegetables to go with the meat. Unlike other BBQ places, where the servers help grill the meat for you, that is not the case here. We usually have to flag down our server to place orders. However, that's not a deal breaker, and they also gave complimentary chicken nuggets and fries to the kids.
Food: Some food here is good while some dishes are not. I wouldn't recommend getting any of the appetizers because they were disappointing. We ordered the squid skewers, calamari, and crispy tofu. I expected the squid skewer to be grilled, but it seemed boiled with some sauce and spices sprinkled on top. The texture was rubbery and tough. The calamari was not tasty and dry. The crispy tofu was also nothing special. It was served with sweetened condensed milk which was an unusual combination. The texture of the tofu was not good. We ordered the meat lovers combination and overall it was excellent. Some cuts were better than others, but this is a good dish to get if you want to sample various cuts of meat. We also ordered the scallion beef cubes which were very tasty. As soon as you sit down, they provide dipping sauces and some cold appetizers, which are complimentary. There was spicy pickled cabbage, marinated, sliced beef and pickled radish. The menu includes a variety of combo meat platters, but you can also order individual cuts of meat. There's also a variety of vegetables to order. Service: Service was average - not particularly great but not terrible either. Ambiance: The decor in this restaurant is very nice. Everything looks new and nicely renovated. It's good for small and large groups. Booths and tables are spacious and comfortable. They have an all you can eat price of $40 for adults and $20 for children from noon to 4pm every day. Overall, I would recommend this place, but be mindful of what you order especially with the appetizers.
Ganhoo BBQ has the best BBQ I've ever had, blending Korean and Japanese techniques with rich Chinese flavors. We indulged in the Ganhoo Prime Combo, featuring dry-aged short rib, flat iron, and beef tongue. The meat quality is top-notch and incredibly tender. My absolute favorite? The Bullish Wagyu! it comes with an incredible presentation that's a feast for the eyes and taste buds. And don't miss out on the kiwi cucumber juice--so refreshing! If you're a BBQ lover, you have to check out Ganhoo BBQ. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you! Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!
I have only had Korean BBq at one other location. There were so many options. They quickly come to with all the sides, water and plum juice. My son loved the juice. Once we ordered the meat came out quickly. They even brought chicken nuggets as a side for my little guy. I ordered the watermelon juice for myself and they give you watermelon at the end of the meal. The place was well kept and roomy. It was a great choice after the ballgame.
Pretty good Korean bbq. A bit different on what I'm use too. The small dishes they give wasn't anything to talk about such as other k bbq spots. However, the meat stairs were pretty damn good and the marinaded chicken was delicious. I went for my friend's birthday, and the staff was great and even gave a meat cake. Only take away was they charged $3 extra every-time you request for extra lettuce shells which most other kbbq spots is given for free. The ambiance was excellent and very clean.
